Pamela Lipton isn’t your average Long Island mom. The 38-year-old mother of two has about 35,000 followers on her Instagram account where she shares beautiful photos that represent her passion for fashion and personal sense of style. She also blogs and shares recipes, her favorite LI and NYC restaurants, fitness tips and more on her website Fashionable Foodie.

Lipton spent the first 25 years of her life in Brooklyn, New York. After being married for a year, she and her husband decided to move to Long Island to raise a family.

Lipton is not only a mom, wife, and blogger, but also a driven businesswoman who earned her master’s degree in business administration from Fordham University. She worked in product development for ten years, but she decided to leave the business world after having her first child. But now that both her children are in elementary school, she was itching to get back into her business roots. Lipton said being a blogger was a manageable way to get back into business while also parenting.

However, Lipton said finding the balance between work life and mom life has its difficulties, as the process varies between individuals.

“When I had my daughter, I decided I wanted to focus all my attention on being a full-time mom. Thankfully I was able [to] take on this position both mentally and financially. Now that my kids are older, I work while they are in school,” Lipton said. “Once they get home, my full attention goes to them until they fall asleep, then it’s back to work! It is hard to find balance and I think that balance is different for everyone.”

You may notice that Lipton doesn’t share pictures of her children on her social media, which is intentional.

“When I created the blog, this was something my husband and I had decided from the very beginning. I’ve always been a little nervous about posting my children’s photos to even Facebook because this world can be a scary place. Social media is a relatively new space and there are a lot of pros and cons. Unfortunately, we don’t fully know the long-term effects, so I’m trying to keep them out of it for as long as possible!”

She also revealed insight on blogging and the steps she takes to improve her platform.

“It takes a lot of work to become successful in the blogging industry. It is a relatively new industry, so a lot of companies are now first really understanding how it all works and how impactful it can be on their bottom line,” Lipton said. “Being successful is something I am still working on. I hustle every day to make sure I am creating posts that are both interesting to my followers and successful to the brands I am working with.”

Lipton advised aspiring bloggers to focus on the business standpoint in order to be recognized for what makes them different.

“It is fine to be a blogger part time but if you really want something to come of it, you need to focus all of your energy and attention on making it a business. Think about your strengths and focus on what makes you special.”

The blogger enjoys modeling, a dream she wasn’t able to pursue until now, in Long Island’s hidden gems. She said she keeps an eye out for beautiful landscaping, that way the focus of the picture remains on the outfit, with the addition of a naturally stunning background.

Lipton said she used to buy clothes from online sites like Revolve and Asos or big name stores like Express and Nordstrom; however, now she likes to find unique items from boutiques in order to “showcase something different than what everyone else is showing.”

As far as staying in shape goes, Lipton doesn’t consider herself a “gym buff.” She favors exercise classes such as Zumba, Barre, Pilates and yoga, avoiding machines that can seem overwhelming in the gym setting. Additionally, she said having an instructor present to motivate her often gets her to go the extra mile and push harder.

While having a popular Instagram account may seem ideal, having such a large social media following also has its challenges, which Lipton explains:

“The hardest part is being true to yourself. It is easy to get swayed by what is popular or trending but people follow me for who I am. I think that’s a challenge for everyone even outside of the blogging world.”
